Glossary
A plain explanation of the words Owarine uses.
Reviewed 2026-10-06
| Term | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Canton | Canton Network, the ledger Owarine runs on. A contract there is visible only to its stakeholders. |
| Party | An identity on Canton. The venue, the resolver and each oracle are parties; so is each seat. |
| Stakeholder | A party entitled to see a contract. Ordinary seat cash and positions name the seat and venue; the demo operator manages those parties' ledger access. See the trust boundary. |
| Seat | Your place at the venue: an ed25519 signing key in your browser (or the iPhone Keychain) that cannot leave it, and a Canton party the venue leases to you. See your seat. |
| Lease | The time a seat's party is yours. It renews while you use it; when it ends, the venue closes out and sweeps the party before the next visitor gets it. |
| Test credits | The venue's test funds for a leased DevNet seat. Funding is configured by the venue; read the confirmed balance. They have no cash value. Guest Trade paper credits are a separate browser balance. |
| Window | One tradeable period on one ticker: an opening print, a closing print, one cadence. |
| Series | A ticker + cadence pair (for example BTC-5m). Holds the oracle list, the quorum and the price policy its Windows use. |
| Price ladder | The prices the venue publishes for each live Window. The venue is the house; there is no order book. |
| Firm quote | The venue's offer from its ladder: one side of one Window at one price, held for about 20 seconds and only for your seat. Accepting it opens your position. |
| Position (leg) | Your side of a call. Only your seat's party and the venue can see it. |
| A price for one boundary (open or close) of a Window, posted by an oracle party. See price sources. | |
| Oracle party | One of three parties that post prices. For crypto, each reads one exchange (Coinbase, Kraken, Bitstamp). A Window needs a quorum of 2. |
| Attested print | A price an oracle party reads from a named source (RedStone, Alpaca, Jupiter Price v3, PreStocks) and posts with a hash of the raw response. The source is named on every receipt. |
| Resolver | The party that records the open and resolves or voids each Window from the oracle prints. |
| Resolution | The contract that records a Window's result, signed by the resolver and the venue. There is exactly one per Window. |
| Policy version | A Series' price-source rule for a date range. Appended in advance; never edited once written. |
| Void | A Window result with no winning side, caused by missing prints, insufficient quorum, source disagreement or an absent resolver. An ordinary call returns its stake and fee. See Halts and voids. |
| Update id | The ledger's id for the update a write landed in (it starts 1220…). Receipts and proof pages name it. |
| Proof page | /proof: every settled Window with its prints, the oracle that posted each, and a re-verify that checks them against the archived responses. |
| Projector | The service that follows the venue's ledger updates and writes the tables the public pages read. |
| Daml package | A bundle of contract templates and their choices. See the Daml packages for Owarine's current packages. |
| 24/7 lane | Windows scheduled around the clock, such as crypto, xStocks, pre-IPO names and baskets. Entry still needs the enabled lane, fresh source and current quote. |
| Schedule a call | A call rested at your own price on a Window before it opens; the venue fills it after the bell if its price reaches yours, or the stake comes back. See pre-open calls. A local lifecycle check was recorded on 30 September 2026; fresh hosted acceptance is separate. |
| Short | A reserve-backed Down position with a knock-out line and an exit when the venue offers a usable quote; see Short a fall. |
| Halt | A wide or issuer-level trading halt signal. Shown as "Trading halted." A merely stale price print is shown as "Signed price stale" instead — a different, more common state. |
