A guest browsing the Trade screen starts with 10,000 paper credits. Taking a seat switches that screen to your Canton party's DevNet test funds. These are different balances. Neither has cash value.

Get test credits

  1. Take a seat and wait for its party to be leased.
  2. Open the rail's + or Get test credits in Portfolio.
  3. In Add funds, check the seat and party. If it is not funded, choose Get test credits. If it has no party, choose Lease a party first.
  4. Wait for the balance read to update. A funded seat offers Trade.

The venue funds a lease once. Reopening Add funds does not grant a fresh balance each time, and the grant amount is deployment configuration. Read the amount shown in your seat rather than assuming a fixed 1,000-credit grant.

Where the balance sits

Seat credits are VenueCash contracts. An ordinary accepted quote moves its cost into a position and returns change. Settlement pays the result back; a void returns the stake and fee. The balance card separates Test credits, Open positions · at the venue mid, and To collect. A mark is a current valuation, not an exit quote.

Portfolio also has Pockets. Open a pocket to inspect its controls and balance:

PocketPurpose
Trading BalanceAllocate credits for supported trading permissions; Deposit and Withdraw move credits between it and your seat.
PrivateFund calls kept off the public record. The venue still sees them.
X repliesAllocate the balance an X trading permission may spend.

A funded copy grant also reserves a budget for its named runner. Revoking it returns its unspent balance. Credits allocated elsewhere are not all immediately spendable by the ordinary seat ticket.

Canton Coin

Add funds includes a separate Canton Coin card. On hosted DevNet, Get test Canton Coin mints test coin to your party. Read the listing's rate and deposit limits, enter an amount, then choose Deposit. Sent means the request is waiting for the venue; wait for your coin and credit balances to update before treating the deposit as complete.

The hosted walkthrough on 8 October 2026 minted 200 test Canton Coin, then deposited 20 at the displayed rate of 0.125 credits per coin. The seat's credits increased by 2.50. These are DevNet test assets with no cash value. This deposit does not establish a tested withdrawal: use the card's current allowance and transfer state for that separate flow.

A Not live capability message means the rail cannot accept a deposit here. Test-credit winnings are not redeemable cash; the coin listing controls which deposited amounts can be taken back.

Resetting or losing a lease does not move its balance to a new seat. See Your seat.
